However, for creating documentation in CHM and eBook format, external tools are required (Microsoft's HTML Help Workshop and Amazon Kindlegen). The list of supported formats for publishing the resulting documentation includes the most popular of them (CHM, HTML, Word, and PDF) as well as eBook-specific file types such as Epub and Mobi. HelpNDoc has support for inserting HTML code, variables (current date and time, project copyright, comment or summary, etc.) as well as adding anchors through the file for jumping easily from one related section to another. Moreover, the “Insert” menu allows adding not just tables, symbols, hyperlinks, or anchors, but also images, pictures, and even video files. Download any of them from that location and add them to HelpNDoc. Verifying for errors is done as you type, and it relies on open source dictionaries over at. Spellcheck support is integrated in the program, and the list of built-in dictionaries is available at the bottom part of the application window. Apart from editing text, there is also the possibility to change its font, color, style, size format paragraphs, apply indentation and colors. Writing the documentation is not much different than typing in a word processor. One keyword can point to multiple topics. The table of contents present on the left-hand side of the application window is the most important part of the document because it guides the user through the entire documentation.Īs such, HelpNDoc is flexible about this part and permits arranging the entries exactly as needed: rename, move into a different category or change its position, add an icon, make it point to an external URL, display a header or footer, etc.Įach topic in the table of contents can have keywords assigned so that the user can navigate more comfortably through documentation. The application is actually a word processor adapted to more than simple text writing needs. Once you get started, it’s easy to uncover the full set of features available in HelpNDoc. This way, even if you are a complete beginner you have an idea about what the final result should look like. When creating a new project, the most common first entries in a help file (Introduction and Getting Started) are already created along with their sub-sections: welcome note, what’s new, and system requirements. Unless you launch a previously saved project, HelpNDoc opens the list of common tasks, a panel that allows starting a new project, opening an existing one, or importing an already compiled help file in order to make modifications.Ī project does not have to be started from scratch unless you really want to. A ribbon interface is present at the top of the application window, and you can dock it to award more space for the loaded project. The interface is quite simple and easy to work with, especially if you are familiar with Office suites. Everything is pretty standard and straightforward. Regardless of the build you choose, installation is smooth and does not require too much attention. A third edition (Standard, $146 / €99) can be used for commercial purposes, but it comes with the watermarking limitation available for the Personal version. To get rid of all limitations and to use it commercially a Professional ($366 / €249) license is required. The Personal edition of the application is free of charge for non-commercial use it also has some limitations, such as displaying watermarks on each page of the documentation file. HelpNDoc Personal has been designed specifically as an aid for developers to create the necessary file that relays to the user all the functionality encapsulated in their program along with the steps that need to be taken to reach a certain result. The simplest way to come up with documentation for a program is to bundle in a plain text file explaining the functions and how to achieve the intended purpose but this is far from being a professional approach. Most users take for granted the help files accompanying the applications they install on the system, never thinking that some degree of work is always necessary to compile the guide so that the less experienced easily understand the purpose of the utility and how it can be handled.

Taking a break from portraying Flannery’s mother, Linney steps into the role of Ruby Turpin, a woman whose nose is prosthetically enlarged (beyond what the original story describes) so as to appear absurd. Next, Hawke imagines Flannery’s familial revenge through fiction by staging her short story “Revelation” for the screen. Duchess cracks up at the memory of watching the movie, and how greatly she enjoyed the Mammy character, played by Hattie McDaniel. On the drive back to the family farm where she’s destined to spend the rest of her life, her mother and her aunt Duchess ( Christine Dye) admit that Flannery’s fiction is not to their tastes and encourage her to instead write a novel like Gone With the Wind. As that character does in that story, Flannery feels increasingly irritated in Regina’s presence. The onscreen relationship between Flannery and Regina less echoes the historical record than one of O’Connor’s seminal short stories, “The Enduring Chill,” in which a young failed writer leaves New York, believing he’s about to die, and begrudgingly places himself in the care of his prejudiced mother. It accurately presents the author as someone who grew up in a harshly racist environment, absorbing the messages of her mother and those around her while leaning into her independent streak at the same time. Drawing connections between these two realms, her simultaneous ties with and disgust toward Southern culture, the film grapples with the questions of racism’s legacy as it pertains to O’Connor’s fiction in surprising, thoughtful ways. Wildcat considers the dimensions of racism that existed in both of Flannery’s worlds-that is, her actual life and her stories. Ruby Turpin.īigotry is a big part of that. Two months before she died at age 39, O’Connor sent a letter to a frequent correspondent Maryat Lee, and signed off as one of her larger-than-life, racist characters: Mrs. They bounce off the page because O’Connor identifies with their prejudices, their faith, their humor. The characters in these fictions find God’s grace only by being faced with acts of violence. The movie actually reenacts several of these stories-including “Everything That Rises Must Converge,” “Good Country People,” “The Life You Save May Be Your Own,” “Revelation,” “Parker’s Back,” and “The Enduring Chill”-with the same lead actors taking on lead roles in both the stories and in depictions of O’Connor’s actual life. The film has an acute awareness of both its subject’s brilliance and her status as a literary lightning rod, focusing less on her biography and more on the short stories that cemented her reputation. But here we are with her first biopic, Wildcat, starring Maya Hawke and directed and co-written by her father, Ethan Hawke, which had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last week it will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11. It’s quite a moment, in other words, to try to make a movie about Flannery O’Connor. Only recently has the culture-and in turn the backlash-truly caught up with O’Connor, with the University of Maryland removing her name from a college dorm in 2020, after a petition circulated online. In her later years, she refused to allow James Baldwin to visit her Georgia farm, writing, “In New York it would be nice to meet him here it would not.” She criticized Baldwin who, while useful in her eyes for describing the Black experience, had no business trying to describe “everything else.” For O’Connor, this “everything else” boiled down to whiteness, a thorny domain she mined and satirized in her creative work. According to an article in The New Yorker, she felt uncomfortable sitting next to Black people on the subway. Flannery O’Connor, the gothic short story writer born in Savannah, Georgia, was, in her own words, “an integrationist by principle and a segregationist by taste.” Born in 1925 and now regarded as one of her generation’s greatest and most pointed authors, she used the N-word freely in her correspondence. How does the X1 drive? Our BMW X1 test car came with the M Sport package that adds 19-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance summer tires. If you want a BMW with all the features of the big dogs but have a more modest budget, the X1 might be the SUV for you. It drives better, too, with agile handling and a peppy turbocharged engine. The 2023 BMW X1 is a technological tour de force, and its interior design isn't vastly different from what more expensive models in the range offer. We just expect a little more refinement from a luxury SUV. Actual braking performance was fine, so we'd have no concerns in a panic situation. It felt surprisingly firm and somewhat touchy. Our biggest issue is with the brake pedal. Standard all-wheel drive is a boon and means there's never a shortage of traction. On the road, the ride can feel a bit stiff, but that's countered by composed handling and a surprisingly sporty feel. The last X1 was one of the better-handling vehicles in this class, and the new model is no exception. Other highlights include an augmented reality display for the navigation system, new video recording capability for crashes and theft, and hands-free driving capability during certain situations. The newly standard blind-spot warning system adds a safe-exit feature that sounds an alert if you're about to open your door into approaching traffic. The X1 now finally supports wireless Android Auto smartphone connectivity it joins wireless Apple CarPlay functionality on the standard features list. The BMW X1 is available with loads of new tech. Removing the iDrive controller does open up the center console, so the new X1 feels spacious and has better storage than before. BMW suggests using voice commands, and while they do work well, it feels like a crutch for a somewhat flawed design. The system is responsive and packs a lot of features, but the menu system can feel cumbersome to navigate and requires taking your eyes off the road for longer than we'd prefer. This has been a BMW infotainment staple for more than 20 years, but its removal in the new X1 means you have to use the touchscreen or robust voice controls to access the system's features and settings. We've seen this system in recent BMW models like the all-electric iX and flagship 7 Series sedan.Īlso of note is that - unlike the iX and 7 Series - the X1 no longer has an iDrive controller knob. Instead, these functions are all contained within menus and submenus of the infotainment system. The center stack is also cleaned up, so there aren't several tiers of climate controls and preset buttons. You get a singular glass enclosure for the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.7-inch touchscreen, with the latter angled toward the driver. BMW's latest interior design ethos is also on full display in the new X1. There are three ways to define the spawn egg: The spawn egg tab allows you to set the spawn egg that is the item used to spawn the custom entity. As an example, if you mix the appearance of a wolf with the behavior of a sheep (a sheep in wolf's clothing), you will quickly notice that the wolf in Minecraft does not come with a grazing animation, so it will look like the grass below them just pops off. It is recommended for beginners to use the behavior from the same mob as the appearance, to avoid conflicts.Īppearance and behavior often work hand in hand. To navigate the wizard, use the Back and Next buttons at the bottom of the screen. The wizard will guide you through the steps required to create your custom entity. Click the Let's Go-button to get started.Alternatively, navigate to Filter and select Create Bedrock Entity to open the wizard.Click the yellow banner on the start screen to open the wizard.Once the plugin is installed, you can use the Minecraft Entity Wizard to start creating your entity. Click on Install to add the plugin to Blockbench.Locate the plugin Minecraft Entity Wizard, either by scrolling through the list of available plugins, or via the search box. In Blockbench, navigate to File and select Plugins. Most parts of the program work the same in the web app, but saving files requires a few extra steps. If you do not want to install the app, or you are using a mobile device like a tablet, you can also use the plugin in the Blockbench web app. Otherwise, the combination of making sure your tank isn’t too brightly lit, regular cleaning, and your goldfish eating some algae themselves, should be enough to keep algae growth under control. Some plants, such as hornwort, can also inhibit the growth of algae. If you would still like to try some other fish in your goldfish tank, check out our ultimate guide to fish that can live with goldfish. Aquarium bulbs lose their spectrum and intensity as they age this weakened light will likely encourage algae growth. Keep lights on 10-14 hours per day for planted aquariums, 6-10 for ornamental setups. Fish such as Plecos can latch on to goldfish and damage their scales and slime coating! Put your lights on a timer to replicate a day/night schedule and stick to it. It is possible, but it comes with some risk. Could I get other fish to help eat the algae in my goldfish tank? Don’t let algae growth get out of control so that your fish are eating it all the time – and still feed your goldfish properly – and you should be alright. Algae isn’t particularly nutritious, but it’s not bad for your goldfish either. Unlike other algae species that grow on the glass. Is eating algae good or bad for my goldfish? Spirulina is a blue-green alga that is found both in goldfish food and often is an ingredient in health food products for humans. Green Water outbreaks are caused by a sudden population explosion of suspended algae known as phytoplankton. It’s best to leave some algae in your tank though, as it can help keep down levels of chemicals such as ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Even though goldfish eat algae – and will eat a lot – you can’t expect them to keep every bit of your tank clean! If you want to keep your tank looking neat and tidy, you will probably have to clean away some algae yourself. If goldfish eat algae, does that mean I don’t have to clean my tank?īefore you get too excited about never having to clean your tank, you have to remember that algae can grow very quickly (particularly in tanks with a lot of light). Assemble What You Need Start by assembling everything you need for cleaning your tank, including: Aquarium vacuum cleaner Bucket Dechlorinator Algae scraper Replacement filter media (if required) Filter system brushes Unless you need to take your tank down completely, you won’t need to remove your goldfish from the tank while you’re cleaning it. This means that goldfish will eat algae wherever they find it – off the sides of your tank, off decorations and plants, and off the gravel on the bottom of your tank. Also, because goldfish have no stomachs, they are constantly on the lookout for food. Lowering the amount of green algae in your water will encourage your fish to become active and grow in length and body mass. A high concentration of algae will lead to a larger wen and other noticeable effects such as color finishing. Goldfish are omnivores ( they will eat both plants and animals) and they will eat – or at least try to eat – almost anything. Using green water in your tank is a healthy and natural water to control the growth of your goldfish. It originated around eight years ago at Paramount Pictures under the guidance of veteran producer Lynda Obst, after theoretical physicist Kip Thorne (with whom she’d collaborated on Robert Zemeckis’ 1997 film Contact) had suggested sculpting a motion-picture concept around his own theories concerning “warped space-time”. It didn’t begin as a Christopher Nolan project, though. Christopher Nolan, old-school-harking master of in-camera techniques and practical effects doing spaceships and robots? Yeah, right… Even if we all really knew in our hearts it would never happen. So everyone’s next favourite Nolan rumour, which peaked around two years ago, was that he could be in line to direct the new Star Wars. There was a time when everybody’s favourite Christopher Nolan rumour would be that he’d direct the next Bond. “That,” says Nolan with a smile, “is because nothing like this has ever been done before!” More used to VFX-heavy ‘create it in post’ productions with their echoing stages swathed in greenscreen, Empire comments that we’ve honestly never seen anything like this before on a film set. “This will be one of a series of foreground shots.” This is a very big toy with which to be achieving some ‘little’ shots… “It does give you a sense of power,” Nolan admits, nodding over to the Ranger, which if not life-size, is pretty damn close at 80 per cent scale. “We’re just shooting lots of little pieces that will fit into various spots,” he explains of his day’s work. Nolan spots Empire and strides over, light-footed, to greet us. “He is enjoying things far too much.”Įventually, the waldo is released and the gimbal powers down. “Chris is like a boy with toys,” faux-sighs Thomas, shaking her head. A few chunks of its rear undercarriage, actually polystyrene, break away and tumble to the floor. Nolan gives the waldo a good, hard jiggle, and the Ranger shudders and jerks with worrying intensity. “It’s the biggest electric train set in Hollywood!” “Something to put under the Christmas tree!” Otero grins at us, pick wedged between his teeth. As Nolan, a huge smile illuminating his usually brow-darkened face, pulls back on the waldo and causes his craft to tilt as vertically as this rig will allow, we fight the nervous urge to step back. “Pretty amazing, isn’t it?” yells Emma Thomas - producer, Nolan’s other half, and Empire’s tour guide for its one-day Interstellar voyage this mid-November day in Los Angeles. Smoke gusts across the ship’s multi-windowed prow, representing atmosphere that will buffet the craft on screen. As he twists it and turns it, the huge craft follows its movements, amplified and accompanied by the hissing and puffing of hydraulics. The motion base beneath the Ranger rumbles into life and Nolan grasps the copper triangle, or “the waldo”. LET’S STAY CLEAR!” barks Otero, strutting the danger-zone perimeter. Flanked by his new director of photography, the Dutch-Swedish Hoyte Van Hoytema (long-haired, bearded, clad in goth-black), and his long-serving first assistant director Nilo Otero (who, with his neat sweep of silver hair, sharp suit and ever-present toothpick, could be a Mob-movie consigliere), Nolan positions himself behind a steampunkish control panel: three strips of copper bolted together in a triangle and rod-mounted on a stand. The fair-haired captain of this good ship, which he’s named the Ranger, stands a few metres to its right in jacket, waistcoat and sky-blue shirt. And hard-mounted on the spaceship’s top port side, like a noisy, boxy carbuncle, is an IMAX camera. Its angular nose is directed away from us, towards a smoke machine, an industrial fan and a huge, white curtain which hangs from the rafters of this Sony Pictures Studios sound stage (the same one that housed the Batcave). Empire stands a safe distance from the craft’s stern, which has at its centre a circular hatch (for docking, we’re told). Weighing 12 tons and mounted ten feet off the ground on a complex arrangement of pistons, this truck-sized, bevelled rectangle resembles the design sweet spot between The Dark Knight’s Tumbler, an Empire Strikes Back snowspeeder, a space shuttle and the submersible Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me. However, this app is certainly not made to serve professional screenplay or mode novel writers or any other heavyweight project that consist of several sections or chapters, bibliography, etc. It will not only clean and properly format your HTML, but also compress images, open links in a new tab, automatically set featured images or create a table of contents, and lots more. That said, we’d recommend checking out Wordable to publish Google Docs to WordPress in 1-click instead. The Focus Mode, Dropbox, and iCloud integration, and the ability to export minimalist writing directly to WordPress and Medium makes it a worthwhile choice for bloggers, short story writers, and other writers who indulge in general writing stuff, want a distraction-free mode, and work frequently to export text files, blog posts, and notes. Yes, I would recommend iA Writer if you like a minimal feature, easy to use word writing app that is also free (at least for Android). You have to buy it in the app store for $8.99. Unfortunately, there is no such provision for the iOS platform because of Apple’s policies. While the Mac license is for $28.99, Windows license is a little cheaper at $19.99, and both of the versions are paired up with a 30-day free text trial, which is a great way to check out the writing environment. It is the only tool that has separate mode pricing for its Mac and Windows version, which also offers and on-screen keyboard and iCloud syncing. IA Writer offers three different plans for its customers. And when you do that, it takes days to resolve your issues, which isn’t true for any word processor you could work with. Firstly, there’s no online chat support the only way to submit your request is via email. #3 Customer service is another major concern for iA Writer. You have to go through the same process as you would do to write a general script – there are no keyboard shortcuts or formatting mode hacks to use. #2 I also couldn’t find a way to quickly write rough ideas on iA Writer. There are only two keyboard exporting tool options – PDF and Docx. #1 While all the other word software provides at least 3-4 different file formats to export your content, iA Writer fails drastically in this section. And it also includes the feature to preview your content as HTML page. #6 iA Writer enables you to publish your draft directly to WordPress and Medium. The icloud sync, though, is one of my favorite features, as it’s such an addition to your overall writing experience. #5 You can integrate iA Writer word with iCloud and Dropbox, and that enables you to backup all your content in the cloud.Īnd since, you can add Dropbox it also opens the door for you to share your keyboard writing with your friends and collaborate with them on your projects. Or you can also create your own templates, much like you would in Google Docs. #4 iA Writer comes with a bunch of pre-designed templates for your disposal that you can use by going to “ File”. You can find a similar function full-screen mode on Microsoft Word, but I like this writing software’s writing process better. It’s convenient writing tool for keeping your mind on the spot and each sentence. It works great as a night mode, as it also offers monospaced font and various font size choices. #3 “Focus Mode” is an interesting feature that, when turned on, focuses the keyboard only on the current sentence or paragraph and greys out everything else you have written on the document. You can use it on Windows, Mac, Android, and even on your iPhone or iPad. #2 It’s the only software in my test which is compatible with all the different operating platforms. It really helps you keep focused while working on a project. Just a plain sheet where you can carve your thoughts. There is no complexity, no fancy features. #1 The biggest strength of iA Writer pro is its clean interface. Anyways, I still think this boss is broken on coop and needs to have some work done to it for balancing issues so that we can coop through the whole game together and not just up to the end. They need to change it so that you're whole party gets the damage buff, at least until the weak spot shows. Only one person at a time is banished so when they come through they are required to dish out some EXTREME damage before the weak spot will show. This is prolly where the problems are comming in on this fight in coop. Too, even in solo it was taking quite abit of damage once I got through the portal to make him show the weak spot and as we all know the health of enemies ramps up alot with coop so it is safe to assume that the damage required to get the weak spot to appear would go up quite a bit. Also, I was told that a portal appears on either end of that area so it may be more advantagious to just sit in the middle and kill guys then bolt when you are ready (wasn't able to confirm this). So I had to stay a little ways away and kill as many as I could and then bolt for the portal. The portal will not let you through if there are enemies near it. Some things I did notice while beating him solo, might help if you are having trouble. Still had no adds at any point in the fight except in the other demension. I was able to beat the final boss this morning, solo. This is our first play through and while I was really enjoying it I am really pissed off because all of that time on the play through is wasted now. I no it's glitched because I have watched several vids and there are supposed to be adds in the first phase and for any coop buddies who don't get sent to the other realm and we get nothing. Our mods will randomly not activate and the boss will not expose the weak spot. Originally posted by Semisoulus:Me and my friends are having simular issues. |
